The Parrot / Popat

Synopsis

Mohit is a rich, arrogant director. He decides to make an Oscar-contending film and picks a slum, Dharavi, for its milieu, character, and story, as this setup has a high probability of winning the award. Mohit chooses Subhash, a street Parrot (Popat) vendor. He and his filmmaker girlfriend treat him like a Popat (nincompoop) in the process of making the film. They take the help of AI for the story and weave a web around Mumbai city & Subhash’s childlike innocence in the backdrop of Navras. By the time Mohit reaches to shoot the climax scene, he realizes how tough it was to enact the role of Popat. In a train sequence, Subhash goes with a trunk of 1 lakh coins and has to come back at a station for the shot. The train comes but without Subhash. The train carries an empty trunk rather it has few PARROTS come out flying and sit on Mohit to depict who the real POPAT is! Mohit has the entire film in the cans, barring the last shot of the so-called Oscar- contending film!
