Black Cat

Synopsis

Amid the rubber plantations of Central Travancore, Kerala, a man from a privileged Christian community clings to a world built on inherited status, rigid hierarchy, and unquestioned superiority. His carefully controlled life begins to fracture when a black cat—an unsettling echo of a slur he casually uses—appears again and again, as though following him. Soon, the past begins bleeding into the present. Familiar spaces become strange, time slips out of sequence, and fragments of memory return with disturbing images of violence. His deepening insecurity and fading sense of masculine authority feed a growing paranoia, turning his need for control into fear and brutality. As the cat’s presence becomes increasingly ominous, he is drawn into a disturbing cycle in which memory, guilt, and reality repeatedly collide. What he has buried refuses to remain buried, trapping him inside a reality shaped by his own prejudice, violence, and denial.
