Lunar Birds

Synopsis

Set in the nightscape of Kolkata, this documentary follows women reclaiming the night as a space of ordinary freedom. Through layered testimonies and a collective walk through the city after dark, the film traces desire, solitude, labour, fear and violence. A moment of confrontation with men on the street breaks into grief, revealing buried trauma and shared strength. A letter from the filmmaker to her mother holds the film in longing, intimacy and hope.
