AFRICAN SHORTS - CROSSINGS

Departing

Synopsis

Three people visit a temple to summon the Yoruba Gods (Orishas) through traditional rituals involving music, dance, and movement. These ceremonies have long been used to connect with the Gods and honor spiritual practices passed down through generations. As time passes and colonial influence spreads, these traditions begin to change. Indigenous beliefs are increasingly demonized, while Christianity spreads and reshapes how spirituality is practiced. Years later, the rituals become Westernized, altering the movements, sounds, and intentions behind them. As the ceremonies drift further from their original form, their ability to connect with the Gods is lost.
